Mount Dora Extravaganza Weekend!

Such a great turnout this past weekend at the Renningers Extravaganza! I met new friends and spent time with my family who all came to help. My sister Julie and my neice Sarah came from Rhode Island to brave the heat and join our Gypsy camp for a whirlwind weekend! My Uncle and parents came to help out as well. Its just like the circus days all over again! We will be getting ready for the January show next, then West Palm beach! So much work goes into our little traveling show,, it gets a little bigger each year, which means a little more work . My hubby does so much to make it beautiful creating the best clothing rack ever and a gorgeous desk made out of our old antique piano. I do enjoy the shows , its so nice to see customers actually trying on my clothing ! The gypsy life really can be so much fun, but I really enjoyed getting home to my cushy bed :) xoxo

Its amazing, sometimes I spend hours on pieces of clothing sometimes days on just one piece. Seems though the simplest pieces I design are loved more. Simple beauty, this top below is one of my most favorites I made with my own two hands, scraps of the most delicate laces all hand sewn with tiny lace covered buttons, no lace went to waste, tattered, worn as it may be it has to be the most romantic piece ever. After I bathed it in a light tea stain it seemed to come to life. I think I may stick to the Simple for a while. I love simple, I hope you enjoyed the phots, love, Kimberly

Dear Friends! So much time has passed since posting my wares and whereabouts :) I'm still here. The new year has brought many challenges and some thrilling news which I will share. First of all I will leave out the negative challenges, why burden you sweet readers who are taking time out of your life to read of others challenges in life , right? I'm happy to say the good in my life overcame the bad. Everything seems to work out, though a friendship ended, another began. A beautiful beginning with the sister of my dreams. A long lost sister has found a place in our hearts. Creative,funny, sweet, beautiful, my older sister . Soon on March 25Th myself along with her Mother, Brother and a host of family will greet her for the first time. I'm not only happy for Julie, myself, but more so Our Mother, who carried pain in her heart for 45 years..... Oh what a day this will be!

It's been so hard to concentrate on anything else. But, I have been trying each day to carry on business . Emails from sweet ladies wanting this or that, its been wonderful shipping to Spain, France, Hong Kong, Germany, Sweden Amazing! We have also decided to take Paris Rags.com commercial, more clothing hand picked by me personally from all over the world, beautiful romantic styles all on one website! I'm very thrilled, this will leave me more time to work on my one of a kind creations and to make the most stunning pieces ever. With my husband by my side taking care of the website details and taking care of me:) I know it will thrive. When you love what you do how can it not? I'm off to bed, as another day will bring another blessing. Here are a few photos of some new pieces and some sold this past month, thanks for your time, it means so much to me :)

Greetings friends! Its been ages since my last post, lots going on so I took a breather to keep you up to date on my new collections. I've been trying to catch up with my sewing and family responsibilities, not easy these days as you all know. I cleaned my little sewing studio , dyed lots of lace in some beautiful colors as you see in photos. Dusty lavenders, Champagne toast, tea stains....oh and color of the moment in fashion, my redition of Grey, Dusty grey.....love that color.....I'm taking a much needed break this Saturday and heading to mount Dora Extraviganza, not to vend but to shop! Meeting up with my sweet friend Cassandra from My Artful Adventures, The Duchess and Karen of Karenhillman Photography....should be so much fun. My mail goal FIND LACE! I'm so in need of laces.... Around here at little antique shops they want like 8.00 for a vintage doily, wow, if I bought them at that price i'd be putting like 80.00 into each piece I create! So hope to find some nice deals. Just a few lovely favorite items I featured this month, some hand made some are my fabulous finds. I get so exited when I find romantic clothing, seems it sells so fast so I guess I'm doing something right! Hello Dear Ladies! I'm so exited to see my blog reached over 200 followers! Thanks full for all of you who pop in and check to see whats new from time to time. What does Autumn bring to mind for you? For me it brings to mind Dusty plum colors :) Cool breezes, just felt one today even in Fl! I can feel the cool right around the corner. Cool to us is maybe 80 haha I'll take it right now though. This month I have been dyeing lots of laces, belts, tops, linen a dusty plum and mauves. Those colors are so beautiful. Paris Summer

Hi Sweet Gypsy girls! There is a little gypsy in all of us....This summer I have really been the traveling gypsy, you can visit my kimberlyryanartblog for those crazy trips I took painting the town, really painting too:) Summer painting took me away from my passion number 2, sewing! But I did manage to get a few designs in this summer. The first dress is totally beautiful, part of our plus size collection . Hand dyed gauze ruffle romance dress, this one was custom made for my dear Shelia for her Sons wedding coming up in August. Another sweet customer/friend Michelle of the Duke & Duchess designs is wearing her Paris Rags bloomers , she had them made especially for her trip to PARIS next week! My bloomers will be in PARIS! She also is bringing her Gypsy Flea market hipster with the long gauze wrap belt. This will be perfect for her shopping, zipper closure. I think she looks fab. The bloomers are linen blend, light, cool, easy to wash and dry and the color goes with anything. Our new crinkle skirts hand dyed, they are awesome and sooo comfortable, cool for summer...... Our new summer collection will be out next week, the final summer pieces are beautiful... lots of hand picked pieces and some originals. Right now we are working on our upcoming show dates, November 12 & 13 at the PARISIAN TENT SALE in Ft. Lauder dale then the next weekend to The Renningers Extravaganza in Mount Dora, Fl we will be busy busy for sure!! Be sure to follow us on Facebook, I post almost daily of events. Summer Gauze Romance

Oh how I love Gauze fabric, since I was about 12 ,13 when I first saw a photo of an older Natalie Wood in a beautiful turquoise gauze caftan, I knew I loved that fabric! She wore a beautiful turquoise necklace and jewelry with it. I just wanted one of those dresses. I would always fill out the order form for a catalog that sold them, but never seemed to have the money to get it, they were quite costly to a 13 yr old :) I have always loved the romantic feel of cotton gauze, I could see myself wearing that caftan in Africa overlooking the Serengeti , yes I was a HUGE out of Africa movie fan....Karen Blixen fan, remember in the old issue of Victoria Magazine....? Now I find myself buying lots of gauze, bolts of it last week.....here is what I came up with! Maybe drifted a bit away from my vintage lace clothing but, for summer, gauze is it for me, the bloomers are amazingly comfy....and best of all they come in size small - 3x even bigger if you request.....having larger sizes is very important to me. Enjoy the photos I'll be back soon with something else under my gauze sleeve :)

Another beauty in lace..... I have one more to show you this coming week....I'm in a lavender mode, dying laces lavender for a top today, its unusual, I added tea to the dye, didnt want that bright purple color,,,, The gauze linen top is so pretty, I have them in tea stain pink, tea, and white, so romantic!! More Spring Romance

Bonjour my friends! Behind the scenes I have been working quite a bit in my sewing lab :) Mixing tea and rit dyes, soaking up all the lace and gauze for these sweet fun custom pieces. I just love how everything looks after a good soak in tea, then the dryer with lavender dryer sheets , when the fabric and lace come out its like they aged 50 years or more! My little Time machine :) All three of these items were a custom order for one sweet lady, now I have one more bag to finish this week for my sweet friend Sandy. Her bag is turning out soooo lovely , I saved some special lace for it. I will be sure to give you all a sneek peek after she sees it. The hat is so special, in person it's just ahhhh.... the last piece is a wrap, I call it the Parisian Gypsy , another piece that came out of the time machine:) Well, besides being sick from the pollen , any allergy sufferers out there? It was never a problem in my younger days but ever since I hit 40 a few years back I have inherited all these weird ailments ! Couture 2010

So fancy right, Couture, something about that word is so rich and basically means its out of my price range :) I was so stunned at this piece, I worked on it little by little and it just came to life. Its so Royal yet tattered and worn, elegant old Battenberg lace ,soft wrinkled gauze, tea stained linen. The back is equally beautiful. Its what you would call a duster. Layer it over bloomers, jeans and boots, ohhh I have chills :) Its a beautiful art piece, not to toot my own horn, I just love it. hanks for looking today, birds are chirping in the background it's a lovely day. Romantic Lace

Hi Friends! Last week I was visiting my family, my aunt Betsy came down from Rhode Island where I was born,by the way, lol I hadn't seen her in 11 years! She is still beautiful. Betsy was a beautiful Ballerina, she still carries herself as if she is still wearing those toe shoes! We had so much fun. When I returned went straight to my sewing room to work on some custom orders, below are a few I finished, they turned out lovely. Just had to share a new Custom order from a lady who contacted me on Etsy. I constructed it with a beautiful old Quaker lace tablecloth, you cant buy fabric this beautiful....I bought some tablecloths at the antique fair last week. Spring Dreaming

Hi Ladies Spring is almost here, well at my house it is, well not really but I did make my first spring jacket. Let me say, I'm so proud of it, totally constructed by me. I started with pale pink linen soaked in tea with the gauze and lace. The back is cut out to see through the gauze and lace. I did get my inspiration for this from Sestra Moja....do a search sometime.... ugh...beauty beyond words....Anyway here is my dream jacket/vest . it fits me too, but yes it's in my etsy shop, for now. After the last show I discovered I need to be more free and creative, I tend to make things too rigid , sewing every little seam just right, this time I just threw that to the wind and let loose! Tents & Lace

Dear Friends! We arrived back home last night from our show in Mount Dora, I had so much fun with my family and friends. Despite some sad news this morning, my photos cheered me up a bit, I was proud of our little show and all the pretties one person can make in a short time. We met some wonderful sweet people and ran into old friends as well. My dad showed up Friday with is remarkable shelves and antique ceiling tin mirrors which added so much beauty to our displays. The first pic is of my basket chandelier, last year I had an old Victorian lamp decked out with roses and ribbons. The chandelier basket had little lights in it too....It will make its way to my living room after it's unpacked :) We had a great dressing room this year too! My Mm looked lovely as usual holding up Dads pretty antique tin. My Micayla taking a break in the back and minding our dogs we brought along. All in all it was a fun time. Have LACE will Travel !

Hi Ladies! First I'd like to address the first photo of this amazing Antique Ceiling tin mirror. When I first set eyes on it, oh my....its so nostalgic, vintage,romantic,stunning! I'm proud to say my Dad, William Golden ( Golden Era Art) made it! He is an amazing artist. I'm trying to encourage him to do his craft full time. Right now he is getting about 7 pieces ready for our next mount Dora extravaganza Feb 19-21. He makes shelves, mirrors, frames. They are works of art. The back is all framed out, no sharp edges as some just nail tin to the boards. The mirror here is actually the original paint but he used a special technique to preserve the colors and paint and yet have a lasting patina with out chipping everywhere. He actually cut out the design so the mirror reflects thru. I'll have more photos of his work at the show. They are divine....I kinda hope this one doesn't sell :) It looks beautiful on my mantel shelf hubby built for me. Now for the Have lace, will Travel..... That's Moi! Here are a few finished pieces, really pretty pieces, still more to make yet in one week, yikes! As you know I love whites, but sometimes we need a little warmth, not that I go crazy with color :) Everyone knows I'm afraid of bright colors, who decided to take a beautiful orange , eat it then make a paint color out of it? I think orange should stay up in the sun, sky and on the orange peel lol Sorry to offend orange lovers, it just isnt right! Well, I know everyone has their own taste, Orange may make you happy when you wake up in the morning, I'm happy for you...really, should I mention the "red" apple color, ok I wont get started lol I meant this post to be about my new items , but I'm confused now! I love Whites!

Goodness I should join White Wednesday with all the whites I have been doing. Nothing like crisp soft cotton with a touch of wrinkle, add some lace and voila! I love white vintage trims, lace, cotton, gauze, linen, I think they are my most favorite. Here are a few beautiful tops and accessories I have been working on. I just added them to my Ebay shop , seems I get more exposure there lately. Hope you all are keeping warm, here in Florida, Jax we hit 26 during the night ! Woweee, I hope it snows, that would be amazing....I have really enjoyed stoking up the fireplace, the cats love it too, they love the warmth and are mesmerized by the flames. Lace and Popcorn

Hello Ladies! Hope everyone is happy and healthy.....I have been busy with home lately, my husband hired a man to help him remove the popcorn cottage cheese ceilings this past weekend. Talk about a mess! We pulled up all our tile then he sanded the floors so that we could paint the concrete. It is so beautiful when it's finished, I love the look of showroom style floors with the gloss finish. Needless to say I've been trying to keep up with the dust! In the mean time here are a few new items for the shop. I will list the top tonight. I'm working on some beautiful things , can't wait to show you all! If you get a chance the new movie out Friday " NINE" with Daniel Day Lewis , Was Fantastico! I love musical type movies, theatrical. Loved the music too! I've been collection vintage knitted and crochet jackets to re-do this one I added ruching in cotton with lace trim and a vintage old gorgeous huge collar and Roses ( of Course). Yo ucan see more pics as I listed it on Etsy today. Its so dreamy and quite a bit of work. The below pics are a sweet little vignette in my dining room, I'm redoing the gorgeous long buffet in the photo , it will go along with my bird and nest theme that I love. Just Finished...this is Divine ....and came by accident! I washed some yardage of Cotton Gauze fabric after spilling coffee on it ....the result was this amazing soft billowy , wrinkled ,beautiful fabric! So versatile..... The night we arrived it was muggy out, buggy, yuk, we always sleep in our trailer the first night, the two blow up beds were a great idea until we discovered one was broke :) Well , I was ready for our hotel room by the end of Friday. The show was fun and we are geared up for the next in February! Bigger and better , we always learn from the last show, this time I need a full length mirror, dressing room and another chair!

Hi Sweet friends.... I'm out of the sewing room for a little chat and to share some of my Goods with you all before I take them to show! Though I failed terribly with the making of the Gypsy flea market hipsters, I did make a few, they are a bit more time consuming than I predicted, So after the show I will work on them more. How do you like my old dress form, I wanted to do something unique and I think she is very Paris Rags! I have two more to finish before we leave Thursday whew! I made more jewelry pieces, more beautiful brooches with hand beading....I Love making them...so I will leave you for now. My next post will be great pics of our show and some clothing pieces I forgot to photograph before packing. Treasured Jewels & Keepsakes

I've ben wanting to use some of my little treasures brass findings to make some unusual jewelry for the show and Etsy. I loved how they turned out, I ran out of chains and supplies. The little vintage spools with egg were something I have been wanting to make , so I had to try them out. I know it's not spring yet but I'm always in love with blue eggs, nests and birdies. I think they are precious! All of these pretty treasures will be added to the Etsy shop tomorrow. Be sure to pop over to my other blog to see the table results! I'm so happy with it... Most anyone who knows me, knows I'm affraid of color :) I love muted old vintage colors, whites, blush faded pinks.....I stretched it a little this week with the minty green and the purple but then faded back to the pale colors:) I did a few new jewelry pieces that cam out so pretty... Tea Stained Goodness

Hi Friends! Here is a lovely bag I finished the other day, experimenting with tea and coffee dye. I love using natural elements for dying fabrics, red cool aide is great as long as you wash it after the soaking process, or else it will bleed when washed again, not a good thing :) I soaked all of the laces and trims in tea but I couldn't get the desired darkness from the tea for the rayon trim so I soaked overnight in super strong coffee, I know they make a rayon ribbon in brown bit I love the aged look. It came out perfect! The cotton lace and crochet just soak up that tea and coffee mixture to a divine vintage aged color, when it dries partially I dab the tea bags here and there on the laces and ribbon trims for a more dramatic look. My Flea market hipsters are about ready, I only wish I had someone to help me sew them all, coming up with all this inventory for the show end of November is grueling for one woman!! I was so inspired to make these beautiful gloves, full of antique lace, MOP buttons , and lace trims on a simply soft winter white fleece. Its not your normal fleece , its thinner and stretchy, great stuff! I love fingerless, they are great for flea markets, store, shopping in general. Thought I'd pass them by you ladies, now tell me the truth should I make a bunch for the show, ( it was cold last year) or are they just too fancy for everyday? My hand isn't the most delicate, nails are so short, I need a hand model :) Let me know what you think! It's been heaven here in Fl with a low of 46 tonight yippeee!! Happy Friday ladies! Sometimes I wish I had a "normal" job, the weekend would be for fun and regrouping, no re- grouping around here! Were getting ready for the Mount Dora Extravaganza Nove 21-23 Hope some of you will make it over to see our tent ! I have so many ideas this year for decorating it , should be so much fun. I'm working on the Gypsy Fleamarket hipsters, lavender sachets,these beautiful scarves, all tattered and beautiful made from gauze that I tea stain. Then I'm doing some skirts, bloomers, pillows, cuffs, bags, some jewelry pieces, gypsy tattered dress forms and my pretty millinery brooches.....so you see I'm a bit frazzled here. I just added these pretty items to my Etsy, I have to update my ParisRags.com soon! I still dont know how to edit our new program! Not too good for business:) Till then Etsy will do. Pink Fairytale

Hi Ladies! Thanks for stopping by..... Things here are busy, as you all are I'm sure :) Here is one item I finished, I revamped this beautiful old vintage pink baby doll. It was longer so I cut it down for top length. It came out so pretty, the center has a beautiful removable brooch. Tons of vintage lace, it's so romantic. For now I'm listing my items to Etsy Here Thanks so much for your comments, I really need them, sometimes I wonder what am I doing! After painting for so many years I find I haven't picked up my brush in a while. There are so many new rose painters popping up with websites starting with the name Shabby it's crazy. Though what I'm doing Magnolia Pearl has pretty much cornered the market on, I still feel my items are really pretty and unique. My new idea will be up to view soon! To explain , I love flea markets, generally I go to huge ones, lots of walking, up hill down hill, toting my little grocery cart for my treasures. I hate carrying a purse, even over the shoulder, or my next option would be an ugly nylon fanny pack, well I decided to make my own version of the fanny pack only mine will be BEAUTIFUL! Lace, trims, sport zipper on top for easy and safe money handling, room for cell phone, wallet, and best of all it comes in all different vintage fabrics! It will look so cool with your Style clothing, jeans etc. I'm so exited! Now , Ready for the name..... Gypsy Flea market Hipster! I'm working on many designs for our upcoming show in Mount Dora end of November. They are so awesome , easy buckle to clip on your waist which is adjustable. Very gypsy Chic! I love Linen! Something about it when it gets wrinkled, I wash it in lots of fabric softener, my mother used to starch it so there were no wrinkles, I just remember thinking it wasn't normal . I love crinkle , wrinkle, well maybe not in a dress suit that would be wrong lol plain sloppy.... Thats why I love free , soft unique clothes, they remind you of walking on a beach, in the woods, on a farm gathering flowers, some in your hair. Can you tell I'm a Romantic soul :) I really should be adding my new designs to the website ParisRags.com but still need hubby's help in adding them, think by now I'd have it figured out. Till then I have them all listed here on my Ebay ! My fall collection should be available soon, I just love white and will miss the summer!

Hello my lovely friends! I have been so busy this summer, it has gone by much too fast I'm afraid. Here are a few items I have been working on in the clothing department. The summer is almost over but it's still hot so my whites collection are perfect. I'm so exited to show you all a few photos from our first live photo shoot! I told you all a while back how I found Devan , I'm so glad I asked her, the photos came out so lovely, she and her sister Erin( I think thats how she spells it, if not sorry sweetie!) She too is so pretty and a natural in front of the camera, very urban outfitters. They are two beautiful Ladies! Our website offers the prettiest romantic clothing and then we have a romantic prairy girl look , I love it! The linen White top Devan is wearing is gorgeous with linen roses all on the shoulders. First let me say how appreciative I am of all of you who took the time to stop by my new blog! Also for the annual COTTAGE CHARM Giveaway for bring so much traffic to my blog!!Most of the time I am very insecure about anything new I make, I make what I love.......not everyone will like it but I believe if you do what you love they will come.....My painting will always be in me, but creating with lace and old textiles is something so exiting , so many new designs in my head. I'm happy and content in my little walk in closet turned into my sewing room. Old antique lace has a power over me, vintage millinery roses make my heart flutter. The time that went into making some of the hand made laces is just so unthinkable! I crochet and did make a few afghans for my daughter but the detail in old lace is breathtaking, the patience these women had was remarkable. I want to use every bit of their hard work in each piece I make, no snips of lace go unused around here! I just want to thank you all for all your encouraging comments, It keeps me going, everyone needs encouragement and I have had quite a share this past month. After hiding out in my sewing room a while I came out with some pretty lovely items! It helps I just received a package of lace and old vintage appliques in the mail I purchased from OurCottageGarden.com Denise really came through with some beautiful pieces to work with. She finds amazing items. The first item is a pink silk choker, tons of the most delicate lace,old applique beaded and my hand made organza petals with hand made pink silk rosettes and vintage stamen in pearl. This choker gorgeous! Another favorite is an Amazing blue Silk Cuff called Marie in Bleu. Again tons of my best dainty french lace and appliques with tattered lace edging...............

Now for the black! It's so hard to photograph, hope you can see the lovely details of the lace and appliques on this silk cuff. So decadent.........

Next is my new bag called Midnight in Versailles with beautiful old lace and pretty vintage appliques over black silk. These items will be posted next week on the website. Hopefully you will see my new Model Devin wearing them! I cant wait! Till later hugs, Kimberly

Just an update regarding which browser you use to view my new website ParisRags.com , if by chance you are using the new Google Chrome, Safari or FireFox, chances are you cant click on the photo menu (That photo is how I feel about the situation) :(. You can however surf the website with explorer or other browsers with no problem. My website guy, ( hubby) is working on the time consuming problem to get it running for every browser. While we wait till the 30Th to announce our winner for the Marie cuff , I've posted a few new items including one of the new Plus size tops "Vintage Butterfly" in our new plus size section called "Fit for a Queen" :) I have been working on more pretty plus tops and skirts with matching lace accessories. I'll get them up this week. I just added one of my Original hats using some of my most coveted shabby beautiful millinery roses and lace. Beautiful summer romance Chapeau! I made the prettiest antique lace cuff with pale blue silk, can't wait to add that this week too! The best news to date, A new Model I have hired to model much of the collection! Devin is super beautiful cant wait to start photographing her in my designs. I met her at a restaurant one night, she greeted us at the door and my husband just looked at me like he knew what I was thinking! I approached her and the rest is history. Working day and night on stocking the website, I cant wait to get it up and running. I came up with a few pretty items, one is a beautiful old vintage slip, white with chiffon and I made it into a beautiful top, it looks adorable with the lace jacket. The jean jacket is hand emroidered with a whimsical pink roses design, I added vintage couture Mary Mcfadden solid beaded pink cuffs to it, stunning , really funky electric cowgirl, I love it! I made some pretty lace brooches, some of them come with the tops. Well off to bed to dream up more pretty vintage inspired goodies. I'm always trying something new when designing original pieces, this is my latest , a Breast collar, or necklace. Pure ivory silk hand made roses on top of a vintage old lace collar, millinery silk ribbons, pearls and swarovski crystals. Its so beautiful, you can wear it casually with a plain tee and jean jacket or wear it over a plain dress for drama! Its very versitile. I'm getting exited! Why? Here is another bag I just finished, Gypsy Queen Marie~ Talk about Romantic, I dont want to part with it! The image was printed on fabric then I did a colorfast treatment , I used some of my French lace petite Point pieces on the front. Tons of beautiful lace....the strap has lace along with vintage brocade fabric and a French urn with roses fabric. Soft wrinkle trim i make myself after a little fading...then I added a old white millinery rose to the side. This bag is so beautiful I hope you like it too! More to come! Here are just a few pretty items I have worked on for the new website, were getting closer to the opening day! I have done allot of items for winter so now I want to focus on some soft breezy ,wispy whites, pale pinks, pale powder blues....mostly in accessories, headbands, cuffs, bags etc. I'm also going to make the items a bit thinner so anyone can wear them to the grocery without feeling like they are wearing a headpiece! Soft simple touches with allot of detail..... Keep us in mind in about a week!

Ever since I can remember I have been in love with vintage romance. I have always altered my clothes in one way or another much to my mothers dismay. Even at a young age I loved old movies, hollywood, glam, romantic movies. As a teen I loved Out of Africa and the beautiful romantic clothing featured. In my early 20's I began reading Victoria magazine. I was in heaven....I poured over and dreamed thru each page. My love for antique lace and roses are the inspiration for my new website to open February. Gorgeous pillows, bags, Rag Bands, clothing and so much more will be all hand made using vintage brocade, linen , lace, rhinestones and ribbons. Though it's been done by a few, everyone has their own style that is unique. I intend to pour out my creative soul into each piece to bring you beautiful , romantic , vintage inspired elegance with one of a kind style for a one of a kind you...... Everyone deserves to look beautiful and feel like a Gypsy Queen of Paris!
